Why Gingham should be your go-to print to End the Summer

Happy Friday!

Summer 2017 – the summer of love or the summer of gingham? For me this summer was definitely all about gingham! It was honestly a new discovery for me, I had never styled it on my blog before and I don’t remember wearing the print when I was younger so gingham is definitely new territory for me.

Today I’ve styled two gingham pieces in two different ways. The focal point in the first outfit is my second favourite skirt I’ve purchased this year (second to my leather buckle skirt from Topshop). I purchased the skirt from H&M back in April and it’s been a huge success of social media ever since! This skirt is seriously eye-catching due to is cute design (also due to the extremely short length). I paired it with a plain black cold-shoulder top tucked into the waist, black mules and my new favourite Cult Gaia handbag.

The second outfit is centred around this adorable dress from Primark! Did I mention it was £1!!! Absolute bargain! It does make me look terribly young but I tried my best to style it in a non-schoolgirl cradle snatching way. A cute denim gilet thrown over the top and my brand new fabulous wedges from the new Ellie Goulding Star collection at Deichmann. Get your hands on them here before they sell out!

Three reasons why you should be ending your summer with Gingham:

Easy to Style

Gingham is one of the easiest prints to style (second to stripes IMO). The print can be dressed up or down and because for the most part it’s a monochromatic print you can easily style it with any colour without it looking too overbearing.

Office Appropriate

Due to it’s monochromatic colours, gingham makes the perfect work uniform. Gingham shirts look so smart, yet still fun to wear. I would recommend going for a blue gingham shirt to add a little colour to your outfit. Gingham skirts are a great way to break up a work outfit and stops you from wearing head to toe black or grey. Finally gingham dresses are perfect for summer with a blazer thrown over the top.

Age Appropriate

It’s no secret that certain prints can make you appear extremely young or old. However gingham gives you the perfect balance of a fun print with a touch of maturity. I tend to stay clear of certain prints such as floral prints on bright colours due to it’s playful appearance which makes me look about 12. Gingham can be worn by all age ranges and looks great on all body types.

I so adore this print / trend but sadly I haven’t bought anything with this print yet, still looking for the perfect one, whether it’s a top, skirt or dress although I’m thinking I’d go with a dress! 🙂 You look so beautiful and the photos are amazing! 😉
