How to Style Tropical Prints in Cooler Climates

Happy Friday loves!

I’m sure you’ve all noticed the dramatic drop in temperature in London over the past few weeks, which came as no surprise to me as I generally dislike August due to the shitty weather (note to self: don’t book your wedding in August!). I’ve also noticed that the blogosphere is currently full of transitional content at the moment. Personally I’m not ready to think about autumn in any way shape or form and will continue holding onto summer for as long as possible!

Today I’m styling tropical prints (possibly a first for me on the blog) I stumbled across the most vibrant tropical print in Jane Norman, so nice that I bought it twice! One print, two styles! Just because the weather might be cold and grey, doesn’t mean you have to dress the same way. Adding a vibrant print to your outfit can transform your entire look and uplift your mood at the same time.

The first outfit is a tropical print maxi dress with the most gorgeous lace-up back detail (which I forgot to photograph #badblogger). It has two splits on the side of each leg, which makes it a little racy and looks amazing paired with some chic stilettos. To make the dress more climate appropriate I styled it with a black pleated duster coat I bought from Zara last year, which kept me nice and warm as the dress is sleeveless. Can we take a minute to appreciate my brand new handbag! You probably recognise what brand it is from the distinctive design, yes you’re right! It’s Cult Gaia!

The second outfit is all about my amazing new tropical print paperbag trousers. I’m trying my best to reduce my denim consumption and determined to invest in more lightweight comfortable trousers in the future. I kept the rest of the outfit as plain and simple as possible as I wanted the sole focus to be on the trousers. I styled it with a simple green cami and a green duster coat to keep my arms warm. The finishing touches were definitely my favourite Gucci princetown mules and my black fedora hat, which completed the look perfectly.

Let me know if you enjoy wearing tropical prints and how you would style them?

These are such fun prints. I like how you styled them for cooler climates. I always love fall, so I cannot say I am sad about it though it does seem like the summer has gone faster than ever!

Love the combo of this Cult Gaia dream with a tropical print! One of my friends has this bag and even though some people called it a bird cage I can’t help but love it 😉
