Happy New Year everyone!
A new year represents new goals, new resolutions, new careers, new relationships but most importantly new healthy living. We all know January is the month of health and fitness so what better way to start the year than with a healthy new discovery. I’m not the healthiest person in the world (far from it, give me burgers, chips and pizza any day) however, you cannot escape today’s health conscious society. With hundreds of healthy new diets, super-foods and lifestyle trends to keep up with it’s always refreshing to discover restaurants that encompass everything under one roof. No matter what intolerances or restrictions you may have, Ethos have a variety of healthy dishes to suit your needs. They offer breakfast, lunch, dinner and even afternoon tea. For all you animal lover’s, you’ll be pleased to know that Ethos is 100% meat-free!
Located in in the heart of London (off Oxford Circus) Ethos is a cute little eatery, which operates a buffet style service. Usually I’m not very keen on self-service however everything was presented so neatly and restocked so efficiently. Ethos has an open-plan interior, which means you can see the wonderful spread of food laid out in front of you and keep an eye on when your favourite dish is being restocked. Every dish is freshly prepared in the restaurant from scratch; you can guarantee everything you eat is whole and not processed. The variety of dishes really impressed me; I couldn’t believe how creative some of the dishes were. They transformed traditional dishes such as scotch eggs and shepherds pie into healthy meat-free one of a kind alternatives. Did I mention how delicious it was? My personal favourites were the scotch eggs, butternut squash, spinach and feta salad and the deep fried haloumi cheese. If you have a sweet tooth you definitely won’t be disappointed with the huge selection of desserts, the chocolate peanut butter bombs are a must have!
So you’re probably thinking apart from all the healthy food, what else makes this place so special? Well they operate a payment system unlike no other, instead of set prices; your food is weighed at the counter, which means you’re only going to pay for what you eat. If you’re like me who has a habit of ordering food and not being able to finish it due to the size, then this will work perfectly for you. If you work around Oxford Circus, you might like to know that the take-away options are charged at a lower price, perfect for a quick lunch-time meal.
So whether you’re a vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free or are just obsessed with healthy eating, then a trip to Ethos is definitely in order in the New Year.
