Happy Monday loves!
Two weeks ago I was invited to the Ibis London City Hotel, to watch a secret performance taking place inside the hotel. Two things I truly enjoy in this world are travelling and live music so when the two are combined it’s definitely a win win situation. This was the first of a series of secret gigs taking place at Ibis hotels across the UK, in line with the hotel chain’s partnership with the Roundhouse, Camden.
Mum and I arrived early Thursday evening to the Ibis London City Hotel, which is conveniently near my office in Shoreditch. We were greeted with a cocktail reception; our VIP passes and swiftly checked into our room. Once we settled into our room, we headed downstairs to the hotel lobby filled with anticipation for the night ahead. Our first stop was the bar (of course) we ordered a few beverages and nibbled on a few party snacks to get the night started and then promptly moved to the stage. The first act was Jay Johnson, a British singer and Guitarist who surprisingly started his career as a busker. Followed by Soma a young British Jazz band and my mum’s favourite performance of the night, she was literally obsessed with them by the end of the night! Ending with Estee Blu a British R&B singer and Nikita Chauhan a very talented DJ who played all my favourite tunes towards the end of the night. All acts were emerging musicians, who I’ve never heard of before but they were all so talented and so entertaining to watch.
Mum and I enjoyed a delicious meal at the hotel restaurant, which certainly did not disappoint! I ordered a fish stew, which went down a treat, whilst mum ordered BBQ chicken wings with a side of chips. I’ve never been impressed with hotel food in the past, but this meal was remarkable and definitely one I’d opt for again.
After enjoying a wonderful night’s sleep in the Ibis’s comfy bed, we began to pack-up and head downstairs for breakfast. Unfortunately the bed was so comfortable; we almost missed breakfast but managed to get the last serving. Hence why I have no photos of a wonderful breakfast spread, but take my word for it…it was good!
If you’re ever in need of a quick, affordable, overnight stay in London, then make your way down to Shoreditch and visit the Ibis London City hotel. Great customer service, delicious food, cosy rooms and who knows you may even be treated to a surprise performance! FYI the acts are always streamed on Facebook live and are available to watch on Ibis’s Facebook page.
