Last week Friday, mum & I ventured off to our local Italian restaurant, Vicino, located in the heart of Fulham. Last week had been pretty hectic for me, being my first official week as a part-time blogger so to end the week wining and dining at an Italian restaurant was a well-deserved treat!

We strolled down the road on a warm summer’s evening, dressed in my favourite accessories. I rocked my fabulous Louboutins for the first time in ages (simply because the restaurant was local so I knew my feet wouldn’t bleed to death). I’ve been obsessed with off the shoulder tops this summer, so I wore my recent purchase from ASOS and accessorised it with my gorgeous new Gucci Dionysus.
Right in the heart of Fulham, you’ll find a little slice of Italy. As soon as you arrive you’re greeted by the cutest entrance, a small outside conservatory filled with rose bushes along the window ledge. The décor is very European and very colourful, it actually felt like a Spanish inspired restaurant.
We started with a selection of appetisers, white bread, seeded bread and green olives. Along with a glass of rosé, a Bellini and sparkling water.
The majority of the starters on the menu were cold-antipasti dishes, which I’m not a huge fan of so I went for the Calamari e Zucchine a classic deep fried squid dish with courgette strips.
Mum went for the Insalata di Granchio a crab dish served on toasted bread.
Vicino is known for it’s spectacular lobster dishes so of course I had to order one to see what all the hype was about. I went for the house special, which was the Linguine con Aragosta, Vino Bianco, Aglio e Peperoncino and it definitely did not disappoint! A whole lobster and pasta on the side, definitely a winning dish for any pasta or seafood lovers.
Mum opted for the Polletto al Forno con Erbe Aromatiche, which seemed like our equivalent of a roast, roasted baby chicken with roasted potatoes.
Moving on to my favourite part of the meal – dessert! I still can’t quite decide if I’m a savoury or sweet person but judging from this meal, it’s leaning towards sweet!
I have to admit, I’m not the biggest fan of Italian desserts as it mainly consists of chocolate or coffee so I opted for the sorbet instead. This was by far the best sorbet I’ve ever tasted in my life, plus the selection of flavours were incredible, Bellini sorbet? Yes please! I chose bellini, strawberry and lemon.
On the contrary mum opted for the most indulgent dessert on the menu, profiteroles. Pastry filled with fresh cream, smothered in rich chocolate sauce.
In summary Vicino is a cute intimate restaurant located in a quite part of Fulham, perfect for a family meal or a first date. Filled with traditional Italian dishes, great customer service and generally a nice way to end any evening.
