Happy Friday! At last the long bank holiday weekend is here!
Last weekend, my mum and I visited a quaint boutique style coffee shop called the Hackney Coffee Company. Admittedly I’m not the biggest fan of coffee shops, anyone else find them as pretentious as I do? I’m definitely not the type of person who walks around with their mobile office going from one coffee shop to another. But whether you like it or not coffee shops are part of the fabric of our society and are now an imperative part of the great British high street.
Located in East London, the Hackney Coffee Company is a cute little independent coffee shop serving a variety of treats ranging from cakes, pastries, teas and of course coffee. The entrance is cute and cosy with a display of yummy snacks behind the counter but I couldn’t help but notice how small it was and begun to wonder where on earth mum and I were going to sit, when I discovered a whole new floor waiting for us upstairs!
The upstairs was seriously dreamy! I felt liked I walked into a classroom at Hogwarts! (I’m not even a fan of Harry Potter or literature in general but I was seriously impressed). I do love a good themed room, the room was intimate, dark and peaceful, perfect if you’re trying to escape the hustle and bustle of London or perhaps if you’re a freelancer. To top it all off, there’s a secret room tucked behind the bookshelf reminiscent of a smoking room filled with traditional furniture and had an old, mysterious presence.
I just realised I haven’t even mentioned the food yet (how can I forget when food is my favourite subject, second to fashion of course!). I ordered a banana and walnut cake (literally the best banana cake I’ve ever tasted, moist and full of flavour) and a selection of peppermint and jasmine teas served in the cutest and most instagramable teapots.
I’d love to know if you have a favourite coffee shop in London? Whether it’s independent or a chain, I love discovering new places!
