Happy Thursday ladies & gents!
Where do I begin with this post! Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past 6 months then you’ll know that Kylie Jenner released her own beauty line back in November 2015 consisting of 3 lip kits. Ever since then her product line has expanded with extra colours and now even lip-glosses. Now there are currently 8 lip kit shades and 3 lip-glosses available. I ordered 3 lip kits a few weeks ago from Kylie Cosmetics and was over the moon with excitement when they arrived!
True Brown K
This is a deep dark chocolate brown colour, a perfect shade for darker skin women but it will also look great on pale skin tones too.
Mary Jo K
This is an blue-based vibrant red, a true statement colour, and perfect for a night out on the town with the girls. A perfect red lip!
This is a true orange-based lip colour, I thought it would complement my skin tone rather well but unfortunately it doesn’t suit my lips at all. To make this lip colour wearable I have to mix it with True Brown K lip pencil to darken my top lip.
In all honesty this entire shopping experience was extremely pricey! Firstly the individual lip-kits cost a hefty $29.00/£20.50 – that’s more than a MAC lipstick!!! WTF Kylie! Secondly the shipping is expensive especially when you’re international like myself – $14.95/£10.58. Lastly if you’re a British customer you better be prepared to spend extra money on a fat custom’s charge once it arrives, I had to pay £16.00 cash in order to receive it. In total I paid a whopping £88.08 for 3 lipsticks!!!
Kylie’s team did a great job with her logo and her brand. It’s refreshing to see just lips on her packaging rather than a photo of herself. I love the ghetto touch with the grills on the teeth (we all know Kylie likes to pretend she’s hood). The actual packaging of the products are cute, if not a little basic. Obviously these are targeted towards a young demographic so I can’t expect luxury gold packaging.
The texture of the lip pencils are incredibly soft and silky meaning it glides on to your lips like butter. I haven’t sharpened any of the lip pencils yet but I’m praying they are easy to sharpen unlike the dreaded MAC lip pencils. The liquid matte lipsticks are quite thick and insanely pigmented! Kylie did a fantastic job at creating a highly pigmented opaque lip product. One coat on each lip and you’re good to go! It applies wet and after roughly 30 seconds it dries completely matte. One thing I did notice is that these products dry out your lips like nobody’s business. Seriously guys, if you have naturally dry lips like myself I’d say stick to the lip glosses
This stuff seriously doesn’t budge! It doesn’t smudge; you can easily eat and drink without it staining any cutlery. It definitely has great longevity and will rarely need re-applying.
This stuff is an absolute bitch to remove! I tried make-up wipes, soap & water etc but nothing worked. In the end I had resort to my MAC cleanse off oil to remove this stuff from my lips so any oil-based cleanser is needed if you’re using these lip-kits.
Would I do it all again? I hate to admit it but yes I absolutely would! I’m already planning what colours I want next so it looks like I’ve been sucked into the world of Kylie Cosmetics!
